Giant blue snails have invaded the Duomo in Milan, Italy, thanks to the art installation titled REgeneration by Cracking Art Group. 50 plastic snails were placed on the roof of the fourth largest cathedral in the world in an artistic and admirable effort to draw attention to and raise funds for much-needed repairs. Although the collective is known for its snail art, the use of such a creature has particular meaning here. They can represent the slow decay the structure is currently suffering.
