Three tombs from the Western Han Dynasty were excavated at Mawangdui in Changsha during the period from 1972 to 1974.
This was a scientific excavation that took place during a special era and marshalled the resources of the entire nation. The funeral site was fully preserved, and over 3,000 precious cultural artifacts were excavated, as well as a well-preserved ancient cadav-er.
